Communication issues

When we found out we were having twins, people were very excited about the prospect of the babies having their own language. Well, Teagan and Lydia definately speak English and only English to us and each other, however, they do have a collection of funny words they have invented. Here is a sampling.

Teagan's words

  • Mine-uh = water to drink
  • Peeku- A blanket (that could be used to play peek-a-boo)
  • Bama- Gramma
Lydia's words

  • Mag-its- magnets on the refrigerator to play with
  • Welcome!- Lydia's way of saying thank you after confusing "thank you" and "you're welcome"
  • milkandaneenee- Lydia's request for her two items of comfort, milk and her neenee, said very quickly. When Lydia cries, even Teagan askes if she needs milkandaneenee since we have all heard it so many times.

  1. Hi Brooke:
I copied and pasted your message to send to Jamel. He will be very interested to see how the twins' language is developing.

I especially liked reading that Teagan says milkandaneenee when Lydia is upset. Interesting how she "takes care" of her "little sister."
Hope you are all well. Carmel sent the 2 y-o picture which we love.
